A Lake Rehabilitation/Remediation project has been discussed by the Village for several years. This page serves to document the process begun after Council approved Ordinance 07-2022.

As we hope you are aware, a plan has been in the works for over a decade to remediate the lakes north and south of Minerva Lake Road near the municipal building. After consulting with lake specialists, engineers, and arborists, it has been determined that the first step of this plan will be to remove trees that are growing too close to the shore of the lakes. This contributes to the sediment that has been accumulating for years and will cost over one million dollars to dredge and repair.
To that end, Boyd Tree Service will be working on the North Shore of the south lake (Village Property) to remove these trees that are dead, dying or falling into the lake. The project is set to begin 2/5/2025.
We are aware of the concerns that many residents (us included) have about the restoration of the lakes, and hope this first step will lead to the completion of the lake remediation project.
